Choose wood for the build, not just the payout

Use the palette as a starting point

The wood directory includes swatches derived from the community plank RGB values. They are interface color chips, not generated game screenshots. In-game lighting and material behavior can change the appearance, so test a small real piece in your build before collecting a large batch.

Combine contrast intentionally

Oak and Koa provide warm tones, Walnut supplies a darker contrast, and Birch offers a pale option. Cherry can work as a muted red accent. These are design suggestions, not statements that one species is objectively better. Keep a small sample library on your own land to compare colors under the same lighting.

The material changes the result

Cavecrawler’s blue neon appearance, Frost’s icy material and Phantom’s pale foil-like surface are not captured fully by a flat swatch. Spooky and Sinister share an orange RGB reference but differ in material. A color filter can find candidates; it cannot replace an in-game sample.

Keep acquisition in the budget

Seasonal and difficult-to-reach woods can make a simple design expensive or hard to finish. Test an accessible substitute before committing a whole structure. A historical seasonal appearance is not a live supply guarantee, and a low NPC sale rate does not tell you what another player will ask for collectible stock.

Store samples safely

Process pieces you intend to preserve, keep them on your own property and separate them from cash-sale output. Do not rely on raw logs to serve as a persistent material library. Label your intended palette in notes so you can replace a sample without guessing from a screenshot later.
